Katie Likes Beer
After starting my career in marketing, I found my relationship with social media becoming less exciting than it used to be. I realized I was spending most of my time expressing a company’s interests and branding, not my own. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I had lost touch with what made me love mass communication in the first place.
After realizing this, I took a step back. How can I reconnect with what makes social media so much fun to me? How can I flex my marketing muscles and try to build a personal following from scratch? And what will I even post about??
Welcome to my binsta!
My beer Instagram (or as I like to call it, my binsta) has been even more fun to create than I thought it would be. I really do love craft beer, and it’s so simple to snap a quick picture of the cool cans I have found or the atmosphere of one of Charlotte’s many breweries.
Although I still sometimes feel embarrassed whipping out my phone in public for a selfie with my beer, the support from fellow craft beer enthusiasts makes it all worth it. I’ve met some really cool creators through this platform, and amassed over 2,500 of my own followers!
I see this as an opportunity to express myself, learn more about analytics, experiment with new forms of content, and document my journey through the world of craft beer. Find me on Instagram if you want to follow along!
Exclusive Opportunities
As I’ve grown my account over the years, I’ve been invited to multiple local media events, including beer release parties and brewery openings. I did not foresee this ever happening, but boy am I excited every time I get invited! Aside from feeling super special and cool just to be on the list, I love getting to support the local breweries in my community in any way I can.

Sorry, Grandma
It is here I must apologize to my Grandma. Growing up, she always told my sisters and me the same thing: don’t post any pictures on social media with you drinking alcohol. But how was I supposed to know craft beer would become my hobby, nay, my passion!
